Certificates: Protecting Canada’s Security by Jeopardizing Basic Rights?
The
introduction to the workshop provided basic information about AI's activities
in the area of refugee protection and current campaigns. Michael provided an
overview of Canadian refugee protection system and current security certificate
process, stimulating a very active discussion on the issues.
Approximately
40 people attended the workshop, and most of them signed AI's petition to speed
up implementation of the Refugee Appeal Division for substantive review of
negative refugee determination decisions.
